This scarf showcases an original design pattern inspired by the iconic red-white-blue bag, a carriage bag made of durable nylon canvas in the colors of red, white, and blue. The roots of this bag can be traced back to Japan, where nylon canvas was invented and later exported to Hong Kong. Since its emergence in the 1960s, it has become an icon of Hong Kong culture.
Drawing on the concept of this bag's mobility and weaving pattern, we have incorporated some happy vibes into our t-shirt design. We added some Cantonese words, such as the double happiness symbol, "hoi sum" (meaning "happy" in Cantonese), and "siu" (meaning "smile").
Our aim is for people who wear this tee to carry these positive vibes with them and be reminded of the happy times in old Hong Kong, just as the red-white-blue bag carries precious belongings from one place to another.
