Hong Kong indie darling Jessey Tsang delves once again into one of her favorite subjects, the idea of home, in the documentary Flowing Stories. Based in her beloved home village of Ho Chung, the film explores the recent history of this idyllic slice of Hong Kong through one family, the Laus. Having grown up with several generations of the Lau family as her neighbors, Tsang is in a unique position to tell their story, from that of an elderly matriarch who's spent her entire life in Ho Chung, to those of her children and grandchildren, living their own lives in Edinburgh, in London, in Paris and in Calais, places that might as well be whole worlds away from the Hong Kong village they once called home.
